How the launch tracker works
FoodLaunches.ai is a daily, AI-powered tracker of new food & beverage product launches in US retail, built by Tastewise. Here is exactly where the data comes from and what each field means.
1. Signal detection
Every day, an AI pipeline scans launch announcements across four source families: official press releases, brand and creator social media posts, LinkedIn announcements, and food-industry web coverage. Each candidate is parsed into a structured launch record: brand, product name, launch type and a short description, with a link to the original source.
2. Launch classification
Launches are classified by what actually changed on shelf:
- New product — a genuinely new item for the brand or market.
- New flavor — a flavor addition to an existing line.
- Limited edition — seasonal or short-run releases.
- Line extension — new formats or sub-lines of an existing product.
- Multipack / new size — pack-architecture changes.
- Seasonal return — a returning seasonal favorite.
Each record carries a confidence score (high / medium / low) reflecting the strength and corroboration of the detection signal.
3. Retail shelf matching
Detection is only half the story — the tracker then matches each launch against live product catalogs at Walmart, Instacart and DoorDash. Where a match is found you get the exact shelf listing name and a direct product link, turning “brand announced X” into “X is on shelf, here.”
4. Daily refresh
The pipeline runs every day and the site updates automatically. Right now the tracker covers 368 launches from 284 brands in the United States, and it grows daily.
